Created in 1974, the Hermès ‘Châteaux d’Arrière’ square is an iconic piece celebrating the maritime world and the art of ceremonial ship decoration. The design features two majestic stern castles — those sculpted structures that adorned the sterns of ships — enhanced by a symmetrical composition, rich in gilded details, mythological figures and stylised rigging.

The palette of red, black, ivory and gold gives this square scarf a spectacular visual presence, typical of Hermès creations from the 1970s, where bold graphic design meets traditional craftsmanship.
